“The Race is won by the rider, who can suffer the most”

Eddy Merckx

Through 2009 – 2016, I travelled the circus, photographing what they call ‘The Peloton’. From Naples, Nice, to the cobbles of  the ‘Hell of the North’, these are my reflections of the hardest, and fastest cycle races in the world.

Throughout this time British cycling move to the fore in world sport, with the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas, Chris Froome and Simon Yates, all winning grand tours as well as Olympic Golds, in a major turn within world sport.

Bradley Wiggins, The ‘Mod Icon’.

Wiggo, always a character! Either love him or hate him, one of Britain’s greatest sportsperson, with a collection of Olympic medals, World champion’s and Tour de France jerseys. A man who loves the history of the sport, the characters. and the hard day stories. Catch him at the right time, and always love to chat.

Mark Cavendish, the ‘Manx Flyer’.

Fastest man on two wheels, winning sprint after sprint. Always love to be around his kids, and can be quite outspoken at times. One of the most respected cyclists of our time.

Geraint Thomas, ‘The Welshcake Wonder’

Wale’s greatest cyclist. Known as ‘G’, he’s is one of the hardmen of cycling, not only on the road but gold medalist at the Olympics. A truly inspiring win at the 2018 Tour de France, and much loved by the folk of Cardiff and Wales.

Chris Froome, ‘Mr Tour de France’.

Simba, the lion from Africa. Chris, who raced under a UK passport, surpassed all pour expectation, when he won the Tour de France in 2013. From then he has gone from strength to strength, taking all Grand Tours, and taking the yellow jersey now on 4 occasions.
